Andy from Boatworks today is finally able to say that the transom chapter of his Bertram Moppie rebuild has been turned! It has been a long time coming with a few curveballs along the way, but it is finally installed and we can honestly say that the results turned out great!
He cuts and dry fits the coosa board before applying the epoxy. After making a few adjustments to the panel, he begins to mix the epoxy. He pre-thickens five batches of High Performance Epoxy with Silica Thickener until the consistency is somewhere between mayonnaise and peanut butter. He chooses this consistency for the perfect mixture to help bond and fill gaps, and because the panel will sit vertically, this will keep it in place with no sag.
After Andy evenly spreads the thickened epoxy to the back of the panel, he secures the Coosa board with screws and a total of 72 oz of High Performance Epoxy.
